FIGHT OR FLIGHT
Project Brief: A collaboration with fencing company, Z Fencing, We were tasked to design a collection consisting of 5 gala looks for their upcoming 10-year anniversary to comemorate fencing. With sustainability as its main focus, we had to conceptualise, design and produce a mini mannequin sized gala look along with a new fencing suit design celebrating Z-fencing.
"Fight or Flight' is a concept heavily influenced by an automatic physiological response to an event that is perceived as stressful or frightening. The perception of this threat activated the sympathetic nervous system and triggers an acute stress response that prepares the body to fight or flee. This concept highlights the two ends as complete opposites, to attack or to defend in a fencing match with two very opposing reactions, emotions and instincts.
when two ends that collide in the middle to fight or to flight, there is a sharp change in energy, trust your gut feeling as you follow your instinct, act first think later.

In order to express two opposite ends, hard and soft, I decided to take inspiration from two very different interpretations of form, a hard and strong angular shape contrasting to a fluid and soft object and with these 2 ideas I combined them to produce 20 sketches, selecting 5 from these sketches
